Food Really Does Matter

I feel that becoming more conscientious of what we are eating is a necessity...In order for us to take control of our health, we need to be aware of what we are eating...This highlighted portion from an amazing book called "Eat The Yolks" by Liz Wolfe,  says it, in a nutshell.  It's time to be proactive and actually give two shits about what you are putting in your body...life is so much more enjoyable when eating foods that nourish the body, instead of depleting it...and magically you start to notice you're feeling better; more energy, good quality sleep, clear skin and so much more...I will have more to say about this in a future post...until then...eat REAL FOOD!

Double Unders

Double unders....oh double unders, I will dominate you...Learned some tips and tricks to practicing double unders last week...right now, I can do 5 in a row...doesn't sound like much does it...single unders are ingrained in my brain from childhood...so right now it's a challenge...practice makes perfect! ! I got my speed rope from Rogue fitness and I am glad I did...getting fit!!

Good Fuel For My Body

Eating right is so important to our bodies. I can often tell by my performance  whether I have eaten enough,  but more importantly,  the type of food, and the quality of the food has a huge impact on us.  For me, I like to get my nutrients from real food, #justeatrealfood.  Food that is either not processed or little processing. If it comes in a box, or has ingredients I cannot decipher, it is not going in my body.  Paying attention to how your body feels shortly after eating tells us a lot about what we are feeding our bodies: Do I feel tired, or energized. Am I hungry an hour later, which is likely from not eating enough or the lack of the  appropriate ratio of protein, good fats and good carbohydrates...

Post workout sustenance:
Egg (with salt, pepper, basil & curry powder) ham, on gluten free bread (I do  eat gluten free bread once in a while). Mixed greens salad with onions & apple cider vinegar & olive oil, and cottage cheese. So yummy!!

So, I have been going to CrossFit for almost two months now, and I feel amazing!! This was the workout for the day.   I LOVE CrossFit!!

Deadlift: 135 pounds
Box Jumps: 25, 1 minute
Row: 16 calories, 1 minute
Burpee box jump overs: 29, 2 minutes
Row: 31 calories, 2 minutes

Since starting CrossFit I am amazed at how much more strength I have, and it has only been two months. I am more conscious of my body position/posture in and out of the gym. My core strength is the best it has been my entire life. I am doing movements that I did not realize I could do...until now!!  Eating right and ensuring that we are moving our bodies is so important to live a long, functional life. If I take care of my body, it will take care of me...
